machine

Floyd welcomes him,
to the machine.
Where has he been?
It's alright, we know where he's been.
he's been in the pipeline,
filling in time.

Before he was born
showing material form,
existence was space
away from this race.
But now he is here,
amidst all the fear.

So, welcome my son, to the machine.

In the pipeline you're free
pure energy,
whereas here, slave to machine,
freedoms only a dream.

so beware,
caution your heir,
it can mold ones mind,
make us spiritually blind.

so welcome,
welcome to the machine.

Jen

September,
She’s newly conceived,
with embryo,
on campus,
second graders follow,
as she walks and smiles.

Change follows time,
seasons pass,
from cells,
a fetus develops fast.
And the children laugh and sing.

April brings rebirth, and humanity rejoices.

So when mother dies from labor,
as son Will cries,
it shocks the mind,
and cripples emotions.

From this sadness,
question is cast.
How to ensure,
Jen, in spirit does endure?

half-mast

Cotton-polyester, dyed scarlet, cobalt, white,
Limply shrouds polls at mid-height.
Once the rare, solemn act,
Now morning the perceptual fact.

Multicolored alerts,
Overshadow
Archived alarms.
Tv’s static test pattern forlorn.

Silence now reigns
across her majesty's fruity purple plain mountains,
under a nation divided,
at half mast.

special

Eleven,
with his old soul.

don't see him for days...
yet the connection's deep.

When fearful or lonely,
he reaches me.

Affecting lives, he says:
the worse that can happen?

Perspective of the sage!
sets me straight,

Little boy,
my hero.

the german

His quick mind
just behind
gray eyes
that hypnotize
this man.

The boy is
no longer such.
Now,
my equal he,
its plain to see,
I’m his fan.

sixteen

daughter of sixteen,
seldom seen.

in comfort from the pain,
connections with others,
have been the gain.

often in life there's hurt,
then,
don't dispair
give back
to those who are there.

arc of time

The arc of time, so sublime,
it’s illustrated from histories rhyme.
Fates, virtues, vices reflect all past,
from the quantum nature of molecules cast?
Some say reincarnation is the answer, I demur,
though in a way, time’s a circle, constant and pure.

moving, on

Packing boxes, distracted by contents there in,
new found holes in old jeans, a chipped rim of a comfortable glass,
forgotten books, photographs of special moments, past.
Morning memories that brought joy,
distracted, by contents.

Upon a shrine in our mind,
between trophies of past joy and packages of disappointments,
we take an urn of the present, and drink,
then light the candle of future hope.

farewell Ioana

No longer together for breakfast are we,
with luck in the future we’ll make time for tea,
now, with her mother she’ll stay,
and so I do pray,
that this time it works,
absent me.

quebec

Born from sea,
Through old St Lawrence’s way,
fortified walls surround
lovely Mademoiselle Quebec,
guarding her treasure,
with savvy street performer charisma,
while accenting, all things French.
Inside the city,
elegant stone homes,
adorned by colorful bouquets,
charm and values nurtured,
asidewalk café,
feeds the soul of poets,
while on her skirts,
waterfalls higher than Niagara,
keep her chalice full and pure.

war on innocents

Three years in Iraq.
Terrorists war on innocents,
bombs, bullets,
intended for terrorists,
kill innocents.
How many more
boys and girls
are killed?
Imagine the terror.

eyes

Into the window, do look,
Framed by hazel iris’
A portal to the bastion of soul,
the heart,
Sixteen inches below the center of reason,
What do you see?

breaking fast and norm

Runny eggs, crispy toast,
pink strawberries, red grapes, yellow OJ,
So much the better than,
Red eggs, pink toast,
yellow strawberries, runny grapes and crispy OJ!

imagine humor

"Imagination was given to us
to compensate for what we are not;
a sense of humor was provided
to console us for what we are."

a poet

"A poet
is someone who can pour light
into a cup
and then raise it
to nourish your beautiful-
perhaps parched-
holy mouth."
-Hafiz

way of being

Love, it’s a verb,
not a feeling
for your head to disturb.

Love, it's a way of being
and comes from the heart,
so keep the two,
sixteen inches apart.

australia

Australia looks like a cool place,
So many animals, in your face.
There are many, I’d like to see
I wonder, is there cheetah and monkey?

blink

When God blinks…
Rwanda, Darfur ... see genocide,
humans are abandoned,
trust is betrayed,
egos expand.

tinkled note in space

If you were a tinkled note,
floating though space
imagine resulting melodies,
as you move in harmony,
with others, encountered.

No lesser genius',
Puccini, Verdi or Mozart,
Might imagine the beautiful resonance
peaceful frequencies, tones,
Combined, and
Orchestrated,
by all,
moving together,
in time.

waiting

When I had no roof,
I made Audacity my roof.
When I had No supper
my eyes dined.
When I had no eyes
I listened.
When I had no ears
I thought.
When I had no thought
I waited.

on the run

Where’d the poetry go
Now so hard to flow
These days with warmth and sun
Before school all we do is run
No longer time to sit in morning gloom
Where winter cold and dark did loom.

singularity

witness genius, on grand piano,
fluttering fluid fingers,
revive Chopin,
minds moved,
to ethereal zones,
by fusion of humanity and machine.
Mr Kurzweil,
The Singularity Is Near?
It might, have been.

scholastic news

we read that,
wolfpacks are back,
people fear attack,
but aren't they,
for natures sake good,
simplistic to say misunderstood?
it's their way,
we'd like to say,
but it's all so far away...

gangster

MTV, they want to see,
Bums and tummys,
What can ya say,
Sex, isn’t it natures way?

So it’s not so much the skin
That makes my blood thin
it’s the gangsters these days
dangerous games, they plays.

The disrespect, it’s the game,
bigger the threat, the more the fame.
Boys in the hood, with steel in the fist,
Lookin for the trophy, no thought, to the life missed.

deep down, the gangsters a boy,
Still needing love, just playin the toy,
Beneath the image he’s gotta heart
the question is, where do ya start?

comeback

Oh where have we been?
Absent from poetry, our sin!

We’ve been summoned to the king,
So this poetry we’ll sing.

ambigram

Ambigram is a funny word,
we learned it just today,
while looking at the calendar,
we didn’t know what to say.
In a fancy way they had written Madonna,
so when turned around,
and upside down, we discovered,
when read, we made the same sound.
Then one more -- hurray, for the month of May.

MCASS testing,
is not the besting,
would rather be nesting,
with toy animals and friends.

Last night

Last night I saw an explosion,
It happened in my mind,
While asleep between the covers
The image -- such a lovely find.

Amid expanding light,
And a minor bit of fright
I took the hand of a friend,
Knowing, spirits would ascend.

The light consumed it all
Yes, space and matter did fall,
Then, after the light, so fast
A vibration wave, through all being did pass.

A googol of photons is bright!
From exploding universes, came the light?
But the beauty came,
From the spiritual refrain,
Yes, the resonance of light,
Against the backdrop of life’s driven plight.
